ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Product Description

Product Description-Silicon dioxide CAS#7631-86-9

Hard, glass-like, transparent or translucent granules with an average particle size of approximately 5 mm. They are characterized by high porosity and a large specific surface area. They exhibit strong water vapor adsorption capabilities, even at low relative humidity. They selectively adsorb certain harmful substances from the medium; due to their spherical shape and smooth surface, they possess high mechanical strength, resist breakage, and offer low flow resistance. They are insoluble in water and inorganic acids (except hydrofluoric acid) but soluble in caustic alkali solutions.

Product Applications-Silicon dioxide CAS#7631-86-9

Silicon dioxide acts as a moisture absorber for food preservation, high‑molecular‑weight protein adsorbent in industrial fermentation, and drying/purification agent for industrial gases (CO₂, H₂, O₂).

As an anti‑caking agent, it is approved for powdered flavorings (max 80 g/kg) and powdered products including milk, cocoa, egg powder, non‑dairy creamer and instant coffee (max 15.0 g/kg).

It also serves as an adhesive bonding phosphor coatings to flat glass surfaces in picture tubes, projection tubes and oscilloscope tubes.

About 70% of precipitated silica is used as a reinforcing filler for natural and synthetic rubber. Other industrial uses include synthetic resin fillers, ink thickeners, anti‑settling agents for coatings and emulsions, matting agents, polishing agents, pesticide carriers and paper fillers. With good electrical insulation, heat resistance and non‑staining properties, it is widely applied in rubber hoses, conveyor belts, gaskets, rollers, medical products, color TV cables, wire casings and transparent rubber soles. It also functions as a plastic anti‑blocking agent, liquid pharmaceutical adsorbent, and filler for cosmetics and papermaking.

Additionally, silicon dioxide is the primary raw material for high‑temperature UV‑transparent quartz glass and optical fibers, and is consumed in large volumes as viscosity modifiers, pharmaceutical excipients and catalyst carriers.
