ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Product Description

Product Description-Phosphoric acid CAS#7664-38-2

Phosphoric acid (molecular formula H₃PO₄) appears as a colorless, transparent viscous liquid or orthorhombic crystals in its pure form. It is odorless with a strongly sour taste, while its 85% concentration solution is a colorless or faintly tinted syrupy liquid. With a melting point of 42.35°C, specific gravity of 1.70 and a high boiling point, this acid is fully miscible with water in all ratios. At its boiling point of 213°C, it loses half a water molecule to form pyrophosphoric acid; further heating to 300°C converts it into metaphosphoric acid. It has a relative vapor density of 1.834 and is readily soluble in both water and ethanol.

Product Applications-Phosphoric acid CAS#7664-38-2

Phosphoric acid is a common inorganic acid with moderate acidity — weaker than strong acids such as sulfuric, hydrochloric and nitric acid, but stronger than weak acids including acetic, boric and carbonic acid. It reacts with sodium carbonate at different pH levels to form various acid salts.

This substance may cause skin irritation, inflammation and tissue damage. Concentrated phosphoric acid shows corrosiveness when heated in porcelain containers. Owing to its hygroscopic nature, it must be stored in airtight containers. Commercial products are typically thick 82% H₃PO₄ solutions, whose high viscosity comes from hydrogen bonding within the solution.
