Copper(II) sulfate CAS#7758-98-7

Copper(II) sulfate CAS#7758-98-7

Copper(II) sulfate CAS#7758-98-7

Excellent Water Solubility: Copper sulfate is a soluble copper salt that dissolves readily in water, with a solubility of approximately 23.05 g/L at 25°C, forming a characteristic blue solution.

Stable Physical Properties: Copper sulfate is highly stable under normal room-temperature and pressure conditions. It does not readily deliquesce and can gradually weather in dry air, supporting convenient storage and handling under suitable conditions.

Strong Pathogen-Control Properties: The hydrolyzed aqueous solution is weakly acidic and exhibits strong pathogen-killing activity, making copper sulfate widely used in aquaculture for the prevention and treatment of fish diseases.

Broad Industrial & Laboratory Applications:Copper sulfate is used to produce various copper salts, refine copper, prepare Bordeaux mixture, and support laboratory applications such as water detection and protein concentration determination.

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Product Description

Product Description-Copper(II) sulfate CAS#7758-98-7

Copper sulfate: inorganic raw material for multiple copper salts. Anhydrous form: white powder (gray-green with impurities). Density:3.603; solubility:23.05 g/100g water @25°C. Soluble in water (blue solution), insoluble in ethanol/ether. Weakly acidic solution with strong germicidal activity. Pentahydrate (blue vitriol): blue crystals, toxic, odorless, astringent metallic taste, used in aquaculture for fish disease control. Stable under normal conditions; effloresces in dry air. Gradually loses crystal water upon heating and decomposes at ~650°C. Hydrated copper ions create blue color for water detection. Used for copper refining and Bordeaux mixture pesticide. Copper ions denature proteins (biuret reaction for protein testing). Toxic heavy metal salt; adult lethal dose:0.9 g/kg. Emergency antidote: milk, egg white or calcium disodium EDTA.

Product Applications-Copper(II) sulfate CAS#7758-98-7

Copper sulfate: fungicide to make Bordeaux mixture (for lemon/grape fungal diseases). Dilute solution disinfects aquariums and kills snails; strictly control dosage as copper ions poison fish. Bactericidal against E. coli for fruit trees, rice, potatoes, etc. Less effective on rust and powdery mildew; phytotoxic, suitable only for copper-tolerant crops or dormant fruit trees. Preventative application before disease onset; also controls algae in paddies and ponds. Used as trace fertilizer to stabilize chlorophyll and supplement copper. Copper deficiency triggers chlorosis, poor fruit development or tree death. Wheat, barley and oats are copper-sensitive. Applied via seed treatment and foliar fertilization.
