ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Product Description

Product Description-(±)-Methionine CAS#59-51-8

DL-Methionine appears as white flaky crystals or a crystalline powder. It has a characteristic odor and a slightly sweet taste. Its melting point is 281°C (with decomposition). A 10% aqueous solution has a pH of 5.6–6.1. It is optically inactive and stable against heat and air, though unstable in strong acids, which can cause demethylation. It is soluble in water (3.3 g/100 mL at 25°C) as well as in dilute acid and dilute alkaline solutions; it is very sparingly soluble in ethanol and practically insoluble in diethyl ether.

Product Applications-(±)-Methionine CAS#59-51-8

DL-Methionine is an important nutritional supplement widely used in the feed, food, and pharmaceutical industries. In the feed industry, it serves as an essential amino acid that enhances animal growth performance and feed utilization efficiency. In the food industry, it is used as a food additive to improve nutritional value. In the pharmaceutical sector, it is utilized in the production of medicines and nutritional supplements to meet the human body's requirements for essential amino acids.
