Xylene CAS#1330-20-7

Xylene CAS#1330-20-7

Effective Solvent:Xylene is a powerful solvent, miscible with ethanol, chloroform, and ether, commonly used in paints, resins, adhesives, and pharmaceuticals.

High Boiling Point & Volatility:With a boiling point of 137-140°C, it is stable for temperature-sensitive processes while remaining volatile for applications needing fast evaporation.

Multiple Isomers & Versatility:Xylene has three isomers (ortho, meta, para), each suited for different industrial uses, such as polyester production and synthetic fibers.

Carcinogenic & Safety Precautions:Xylene is moderately toxic and potentially carcinogenic, requiring careful handling. Exposure limits (TWA 100 ppm) ensure safety in industrial environments.

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Product Description

Product Description-Xylene CAS#1330-20-7

Xylene (dimethylbenzene) is a colorless, transparent aromatic liquid formed by substituting two hydrogen atoms on the benzene ring with methyl groups, with a boiling point range of 137–140°C.It has three isomers — ortho-xylene, meta-xylene and para-xylene — based on the positions of the methyl groups. Industrial xylene typically refers to a mixture of these three isomers plus ethylbenzene. Commercial grades are generally classified as premium or first grade, with distillation ranges of 3°C or 5°C per standard specifications.

Product Applications-Xylene CAS#1330-20-7

It is fully miscible with ethanol, chloroform and ether but insoluble in water. Xylene is widely used as an organic solvent and in the production of pharmaceuticals, paints, resins, dyes, explosives and pesticides.

It has moderate toxicity and certain carcinogenic potential. Environmental xylene contamination mainly stems from synthetic fibers, plastics, fuels, rubber products, paint additives, adhesives, waterproofing materials, as well as fuel combustion emissions and tobacco smoke.
