Sodium Cyclamate CAS#139-05-9

Sodium Cyclamate CAS#139-05-9

Sodium Cyclamate CAS#139-05-9

High Sweetness Intensity: Sodium cyclamate is 40–50 times sweeter than sucrose, offering strong sweetness even at low concentrations, making it an efficient sugar substitute.

Excellent Solubility and Stability: It dissolves easily in water and shows strong resistance to alkalis, heat, and light, ensuring stable performance in various formulations and processing conditions.

Neutral Taste and Non-Hygroscopic Nature: The compound is odorless and non-hygroscopic, maintaining its purity and quality without absorbing moisture during storage or use.

Broad Application Compatibility: With a neutral pH and chemical stability, sodium cyclamate blends well with other ingredients, making it suitable for beverages, food, and pharmaceutical applications.

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Product Description

Product Description-Sodium Cyclamate CAS#139-05-9

Sodium cyclamate is an odorless white crystalline powder, 40–50 times sweeter than sucrose. It dissolves in water, sparingly in propylene glycol, and is insoluble in ethanol, chloroform, benzene and ether. Its 10% aqueous solution has a pH of 6.5. It is non-hygroscopic, alkali-resistant, light-stable, and decomposes at 280°C.

Product Applications-Sodium Cyclamate CAS#139-05-9

Cyclamate is a widely used zero-calorie artificial sweetener. It is not absorbed by the human body and non-cariogenic, with a sucrose-like taste. Often blended with sodium saccharin to cover its bitter aftertaste, it applies to preserved fruits, pickles, sauces, alcoholic drinks, ice cream, cakes, biscuits and bread.

Toxicity

Sodium cyclamate is a non-nutritive sweetener that is about 30 times sweeter than cane sugar. The oral LD50s in rats and mice are 15.25 and 17.0 g/kg, respectively. It was banned as a food additive because of findings that it caused bladder cancer in rodents. It appears to act as a promoter. There is also evidence that it causes toxicity in the male reproductive system.
