ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Product Description

Product Description-Paraffin Wax CAS#8002-74-2

Paraffin is a hydrocarbon mixture obtained from selected distillates of petroleum, shale oil and other bituminous mineral oils. Its main component is odorless, tasteless solid alkane. Made up of straight-chain saturated alkanes with varying molecular weights (general formula CₙH₂ₙ₊₂), paraffin is divided into three categories by physical state: liquid paraffin, solid paraffin and microcrystalline wax.Paraffin wax, a petroleum processing product, is amorphous but has a clear crystal structure. It is generally extracted from the lubricating oil fraction of crude oil through solvent refining, dewaxing or freeze crystallization, and the resulting wax paste is then processed via solvent deoiling and refining. It is widely used to make higher fatty acids, alcohols, matches, candles, water repellents, ointments, electrical insulating materials and more.

Product Applications-Paraffin Wax CAS#8002-74-2

Paraffin features low cost, broad availability, colorlessness, odorlessness, stable physicochemical properties and high latent heat of phase change. It finds wide applications across medicine, packaging, construction, military camouflage, industry and agriculture, and is also extensively researched for phase change energy storage materials.
