ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Product Description

Product Description-Levulinic Acid CAS#123-76-2

Levulinic acid (C₅H₈O₃) dissolves freely in water and common organic solvents, but not in gasoline, kerosene, turpentine or carbon tetrachloride. It is stable at atmospheric distillation, yet prolonged heating causes dehydration into unsaturated γ-lactone.

Product Applications-Levulinic Acid CAS#123-76-2

Levulinic acid bears carboxyl and ketone groups, undergoing esterification, hydrogenation, condensation and other reactions to form derivatives for resins, drugs, fragrances, coatings, surfactants and additives.

Its calcium salt is an intravenous nutrient supporting bone, nerve and muscle health. It also produces indomethacin and plant growth regulators.

Its bisphenolic derivative supplies watersoluble resins for filter paper; it is also an intermediate for pesticides and dyes.
