ABOUT THE PRODUCT
Product Description
Product Description-PLA CAS#26100-51-6
Polylactic acid (PLA) is a new bio-based, renewable and biodegradable material produced from starch of corn, cassava and other plants. PLA powder is used in cosmetics, chemicals, coatings and ceramics. PLA fibers feature good breathability, sweat absorption, easy shaping and dyeing, antibacterial and UV-resistant performance, and can be blended with silk.
Product Applications-PLA CAS#26100-51-6
PLA is derived from crops like corn and cassava via microbial fermentation to lactic acid, followed by refining, dehydration, oligomerization, pyrolysis and polymerization. As an aliphatic polyester, it features good processability and low shrinkage, compatible with most plastic processing. Fully biodegradable, it breaks down into CO₂ and water by soil microbes within one year without pollution. It is widely used for packaging, disposable tableware, appliance housings, fibers and 3D printing materials.
