ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Product Description

Product Description-Shellac CAS#9000-59-3

Shellac flakes (also called shellac paint flakes or purple lac flakes) are made by melting or solvent-dissolving crude shellac resin for impurity removal. Their color depth can be tailored to diverse application needs.

As a bio-based coating material, shellac flakes are widely used for furniture and interior wood finishing. They are pollution-free with mild odor, non-toxic and non-skin-allergenic. This premium coating can overlay regular paints to block formaldehyde release and reduce skin contact with hazardous substances.

In China, shellac flakes are primarily applied as glaze and primer varnish for wooden furniture. Yet rising new coating types and upgraded coating quality have lowered domestic demand. Coupled with a sluggish global market and tougher export conditions, shellac flake prices have declined.

Product Applications-Shellac CAS#9000-59-3

With shellac resin as its main component, shellac flakes feature strong adhesion to smooth substrates including glass, metal and mica. Their alcoholic or alkaline solutions readily bond to diverse materials, forming smooth, glossy and durable films. Non-toxic shellac finds broad applications across food, pharmaceutical, military, electrical, ink, leather, metallurgy, machinery, woodworking and rubber industries.
